Your Responsibilities
From Customer Needs to Feasible Solutions
- Translate customer requirements into technically feasible, scalable, cost-efficient, and sustainable production concepts, including feasibility studies on manufacturability, scalability, technical risk, and cost impact.
- Collaborate with Sales, Business Development, Application Engineering, and cross-functional teams to ensure concepts align with customer expectations and business objectives.
From Concept to Flexible Manufacturing
- Design flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) and mold concepts for elastomer components across the full production chain, balancing quality, efficiency, throughput, cost, and changeover flexibility.
- Specify, evaluate, and integrate automation solutions through proof-of-concept studies, benchmarking, and collaboration with suppliers and partners to ensure robust, future-ready technologies.
- Work closely with tool design, application engineering, costing, and cross-functional teams to meet production goals while monitoring emerging trends in automation, robotics, AI-adaptive systems, and smart manufacturing.
From Implementation to Continuous Improvement
- Support industrialization by providing hands-on guidance during equipment planning, procurement, commissioning, validation, and seamless transition to series production; actively participate in key project milestones (kickoff, design reviews, DOE, validation, APQP).
- Drive continuous improvement by increasing automation flexibility, reducing changeover times, minimizing manual interventions, and optimizing resource utilization.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement innovative processing methods and technologies through technical and cost-benefit analyses, ensuring an agile, competitive, and future-ready production footprint.
Our Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Polymer, or Automation Engineering, or an equivalent technical qualification such as Polymer Technician HF/FH.
- Additional training in automation, robotics, or process optimization is a plus, with at least five years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong expertise in flexible automation and process optimization, with proficiency in CAD/CAE, process simulation, production planning, and project management tools.
- A solid understanding of rubber and elastomer processing, including material behavior, tooling concepts, and throughput optimization, is essential.
- Experience with robotics or automation programming is an advantage.
- Analytical and solution-oriented mindset, capable of turning customer requirements into feasible, cost-effective production concepts, managing multiple projects from concept to industrialization while meeting business objectives.
- Proven collaborator with excellent communication skills, able to work effectively across teams and stakeholders, clearly present complex technical topics, and produce precise documentation for smooth coordination with colleagues, customers, and partners.
- Fluent in English (C1) is required, and a good command of German (B2) is highly advantageous.
