Join the IT’IS Foundation as a Computational Scientist or Mathematical Modeler

The Foundation for Research on Information Technologies in Society (IT’IS) is an independent, nonprofit research organization closely affiliated with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich. We are currently seeking talented and experienced individuals to join our team.

IT’IS, along with our partner organizations Schmid & Partner Engineering AG (SPEAG), ZMT Zurich MedTech AG (ZMT), and TI Solutions AG, forms the Zurich43 alliance. Our dedicated mission is to advance knowledge and technology in the following areas:

  • Characterization, optimization, and application of electromagnetic (EM) near-fields
  • Predictive modeling of interactions between physical agents and complex physiological anatomies
  • Medical applications development

Your Challenges

  • Develop novel algorithms and solutions for next-generation applications in computational physics.
  • Maintain and enhance our high-performance simulation platforms, including CAD modeling and numerical solvers in electrodynamics, neuronal dynamics, and data post-processing and visualization.
  • Engage in all product development stages, from feature design to production-level implementation.

Your Strengths

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Bachelor, Master, or PhD).
  • Proficiency in C++ (STL, object-oriented design patterns, multi-threading) with experience in writing production-quality code.
  • Strong understanding of algorithms and numerical analysis.
  • Expertise in high-performance computing programming models, especially for GPGPUs (CUDA, OpenCL). Familiarity with OpenMP, MPI, or cross-platform applications is a plus.
  • Experience in electrodynamic simulations, particularly in the med-tech industry, is advantageous.
  • Passion for designing high-quality, user-friendly, and reliable software.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to quality work.
  • Self-motivated with excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative spirit.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and work independently in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in English (written and spoken); knowledge of German is a plus.

Our Offer

  • A vibrant, multicultural, and innovative work environment that drives key technologies and promotes diversity and inclusion.
  • Access to state-of-the-art laboratories, high-performance computing clusters, and production facilities.
  • A dynamic team of global talents from physics, electronics, mathematics, biology, and more, dedicated to excellence and high ethical standards.
  • Flexible working hours in a prime location in the heart of Zurich.
