Job Opportunity: Communication and Events Officer (80-100%)

The National Center of Competence in Research, NCCR Catalysis, is dedicated to developing the skills, tools, and technologies essential for advancing a carbon-neutral and waste-free chemical industry for a sustainable future. Jointly led by ETH Zurich and EPFL since 2020, this research initiative is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and currently comprises 14 member institutions with over 200 members. The program's second funding phase extends from August 2024 to July 2028, with preparations for its final funding phase set to begin in August 2028.

The NCCR Catalysis Project Office is seeking a Communication and Events Officer to join our team and enhance our activities promptly. In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Project Office and the Management Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communication: Reinforce and expand ongoing communication efforts across various platforms, including our website, social media, and newsletters.
  • Event Organization: Assist in organizing international conferences and schools, along with supporting other yearly meetings and events such as the Annual Meeting and Sustainability Day.
  • Yearly Reporting: Contribute to data entry and analysis for reporting purposes, alongside scientific writing tasks.
  • Educational Activities: Coordinate and support visits from guest lecturers.

Qualifications

  • M.Sc. in chemical sciences or a related field.
  • Experience in scientific communication, marketing, social media writing, and event organization.
  • Proactive, team-oriented, with strong communication, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent command of English; knowledge of German and/or French is an advantage.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and adaptable across various topics.
  • Willingness to learn and utilize modern digital tools for communication, coordination, and reporting.
  • Ability to participate in up to three multi-day on-site events per year in Switzerland.
