Job Opportunity: Communication and Events Officer

The National Center of Competence in Research, NCCR Catalysis, is dedicated to developing skills, tools, and technologies that will enable a transition towards a carbon-neutral and waste-free chemical industry for a sustainable society. Jointly led by ETH Zurich and EPFL since 2020, this research program is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and currently comprises 14 member institutions with over 200 members. We are now entering the second funding phase (August 2024 to July 2028) and initiating preparations for the final funding phase (August 2028 to July 2032).

The NCCR Catalysis Project Office is looking for a Communication and Events Officer (80-100%) to join our team and enhance our activities as soon as possible. You will work directly with the Project Office and the Management Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Communication:
    • Reinforce and expand ongoing communication efforts across various platforms (website, social media, newsletter).
  • Event Organization:
    • Support the organization of international conferences and schools.
    • Assist with all other yearly meetings and events, including the Annual Meeting, Annual Review Meeting, and Sustainability Day.
  • Yearly Reporting:
    • Contribute to data entry and analysis in reporting interfaces, along with (scientific) writing.
  • Educational Activities:
    • Coordinate and support visits of guest lecturers.

Qualifications

You should possess the following qualifications:

  • M.Sc. in chemical sciences or a related field.
  • Experience in scientific communication, marketing, social media writing, and event organization.
  • Proactive with strong communication, writing, and organizational skills, and a passion for teamwork.
  • Excellent command of English; knowledge of German or French is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and comfortable working across diverse topics.
  • Open to learning and utilizing modern digital tools for communication, coordination, and reporting.
  • Flexibility to participate in up to 3 multi-day on-site events per year in Switzerland.
