Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled professional to support our desk in developing supply and demand models across various agricultural commodities. This role involves enhancing analytical models and processes to improve efficiency based on industry best practices.
Key responsibilities include:
- Producing ad hoc analyses based on short-term market developments as requested by the desk to support commodities trading strategies.
- Taking ownership of the desk's data flows, including onboarding new datasets and troubleshooting issues.
- Running and maintaining processes related to fundamental data operations.
- Collaborating with various teams to capture cross-desk synergies (equity mapping) and improve systematic reporting of information flow.
- Providing ad-hoc support regarding organizational or technical assistance needs.
Typical Day
- Check that all models and visualizations are functioning as expected and address any data issues.
- Organize team Confluence pages to ensure all information is current.
- Produce any required ad-hoc analysis for traders and analysts.
- Engage in various long-term projects to develop market-leading analytical models.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MSc preferred) in Mathematics, Statistics, or Quantitative Finance.
- Experience in quantitative research, ideally through prior internships or related positions in commodities trading.
- Familiarity with highly quantitative trading asset classes, especially power, and experience in systematic trading is a plus.
- Proficiency in Python is required; familiarity with Excel/VBA is advantageous.
- Demonstrated passion for investing and understanding trends in commodities markets.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to synthesize thoughts and organize information rapidly.
- An openness to tackle any project or task as required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across multiple teams and regions.
- Fluency in English and Turkish.
