Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Management of all Mercury’s commissioning responsibilities on site, including the setup, management, and closure of the commissioning plan for the project.
  • Overseeing direct reports, including commissioning and testing personnel on site.
  • Management of the commissioning tagging process and procedures.
  • Reporting progress on all commissioning activities both internally and externally.
  • Chairing weekly commissioning meetings and directing commissioning activities.
  • Conducting daily whiteboard meetings on commissioning tasks.
  • Hosting weekly commissioning meetings with the General Contractor and clients, and reporting overall progress.
  • Developing the project commissioning schedule in collaboration with project planners.
  • Managing Mercury’s lockout-tagout processes and procedures.
  • Supervising area control permits for all areas under Mercury’s control, primarily electrical switch rooms, ensuring all areas remain controlled and restricted.
  • Responsible for compiling all testing and commissioning documentation, ensuring verification and sign-off on all results.
  • Familiarity with managing the project commissioning schedule in coordination with other trades and consulting engineers.
  • Tracking all testing and commissioning staff on site and distributing daily labor allocation tracker sheets.
  • Assisting in the management of all costs associated with the project package.
  • Overseeing day-to-day on-site commissioning operations.
  • Managing sub-contractor activities, tracking progress against the schedule, and ensuring weekly minuted meetings.
  • Addressing all Mercury commissioning-related snags and ensuring timely closure (within one week of identification).
  • Attending site meetings, internal project reviews, engineering reviews, and handover meetings.
  • Supporting the closeout of all project items with assistance from the electrical and mechanical package managers.
  • Implementing a weekly look ahead to ensure coordination with vendors and trades.
  • Issuing internal weekly progress reports highlighting completion percentages and risks within Mercury’s control.
  • Maintaining a weekly project photographic diary.
  • Building strong professional relationships with clients, client representatives, and vendors.
  • Performing all other duties associated with this role.

Your Qualifications and Key Criteria:

  • Ability to travel freely across the EU, as this role oversees multiple projects across Europe.
  • A degree in Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in a commissioning manager role on large-scale industrial projects, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of commissioning processes related to typical mechanical and electrical systems in data centers.
  • Thorough understanding of building regulations and European standards, codes, and practices.
  • Experience managing and executing a full Integration System Test (IST) is essential.
  • Ability to develop necessary IST documentation and manage its completion on digital platforms.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines and budgets.
  • Strong communication skills at all levels, capable of effectively reporting to the management team and clients.
  • Proficient in producing detailed reports and presentations to high standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to successfully manage client and contractor relationships, ensuring specifications and timelines are met.
  • Strong delegation skills with the ability to identify the right individuals for specific tasks.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.
