Summary

This role provides strategic medical guidance and leads the development of experimental oncology agents in the TCO portfolio, covering phases from preclinical development through First in Human and Phase 1b/2 studies. As a Clinical Program Leader, you will hold the critical responsibility of coordinating the planning, execution, and interpretation of early-phase oncology clinical trials.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Act as a clinical leader for assigned global clinical programs, driving medical strategy implementation and ensuring operational deliverables for investigational products.
  • Ensure effective cross-functional communication to align with global strategy and lead the development of clinical sections of trial and program-level regulatory documents.
  • Serve as a medical expert, engaging with external stakeholders (e.g., regulatory authorities, key opinion leaders, data monitoring committees, advisory boards) and internal Novartis stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the medical/scientific training of relevant Novartis stakeholders, potentially serving as a speaker for medical/scientific training.
  • Lead global initiatives focused on process improvement, training, SOP development, and other Clinical Development line function endeavors.
  • Demonstrate experience leading early and/or late-phase oncology clinical programs within the pharma/biotech industry, complemented by credible experience from an academic medical center.
  • Show a track record of significant contributions to the field, fostering new concepts and pursuing innovative clinical discovery opportunities.

Role Requirements

What you'll bring to the role:

  • A medical degree, with oncology board certification preferred, alongside a PhD-level background in basic Science or equivalent expertise.
  • Clinical Development experience within the pharma/biotech industry in Oncology is essential.
  • At least 3 years of technical, operational, and managerial experience in planning, executing, reporting, and designing clinical trial studies in a pharmaceutical company or biotech.
  • Sound knowledge of Good Clinical Practice, clinical trial design, statistics, regulatory processes, and global clinical development processes.
  • Strong familiarity with oncology and experience in early clinical development is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills, with proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
