Summary

This role offers strategic medical guidance and leads the development of experimental oncology agents within the TCO portfolio, covering the phases from preclinical development through clinical First in Human and Phase 1b/2 studies. As a Clinical Program Leader, you will play a critical role in coordinating the planning, execution, and interpretation of early-phase oncology clinical trials.

In Translational Clinical Oncology, our global experts specialize in disease, modality, and trial designs in oncology early development. Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Acting as a clinical leader responsible for assigned global clinical program(s), driving medical strategy implementation, and operational deliverables for investigational products in a defined therapeutic area.
  • Ensuring effective cross-functional communications to align with global strategy and leading the development of clinical sections of trial and program-level regulatory documents.
  • Engaging as the medical expert in interactions with external stakeholders (e.g., regulatory authorities, key opinion leaders, data monitoring committees, and advisory boards) and internal Novartis stakeholders.
  • Contributing to the medical/scientific training of relevant Novartis stakeholders and potentially serving as a speaker for such training.
  • Leading global initiatives, such as process improvements and SOP development, while contributing to other Clinical Development line function initiatives.
  • Providing strong leadership in early and/or late-phase oncology clinical programs, supported by credible experience from the pharma/biotech industry and academia.
  • Demonstrating a track record of significant contributions to your field over time, creating new concepts, and seeking innovative clinical discovery opportunities.

Role Requirements

What you'll bring to the role:

  • A medical degree, with oncology board certification preferred, and a PhD or equivalent expertise in basic science.
  • Clinical Development experience within the pharma/biotech industry in Oncology is a must.
  • A minimum of 3 years of technical, operational, and managerial experience in planning, executing, reporting, and designing clinical trial studies in a pharmaceutical or biotech company.
  • Strong knowledge of Good Clinical Practice, clinical trial design, statistics, regulatory processes, and the global clinical development process.
  • Good knowledge of oncology and experience in early clinical development is preferred.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills, with fluency in English (both written and spoken).
