Clinical Informaticist (Drug Knowledge & Terminology): Contract
Remote | 6 to 12 months | Starting January | ~30 hours per week
We are seeking a clinician to join our dynamic clinical informatics team, dedicated to developing drug information and patient-matching tools that empower physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals at the point of care.
About the Role
In this position, you will be instrumental in maintaining a comprehensive clinical knowledge base that encompasses around 6,000 drug indications. Your clinical expertise will ensure that the content remains accurate, consistent, and user-friendly. You will collaborate with terminology standards and knowledge structures to facilitate the connections between drugs, conditions, and patients.
What You'll Do
- Review and maintain drug indication content and the relationships between drugs, conditions, and patient factors.
- Map and normalize medications and clinical concepts utilizing SNOMED CT and RxNorm.
- Assist in building and refining knowledge graphs and concept hierarchies to enhance drug lookup and matching.
- Consolidate information from various clinical and drug references into one reliable and consistent view.
- Collaborate with informatics, product, and engineering teams to translate clinical needs into structured content.
- Document decisions and identify content gaps.
What We're Looking For
- A medical degree (MD/DO or equivalent) with passed USMLE, if relevant to your location.
- A clinical background in family medicine or internal medicine.
- Proficient understanding of SNOMED CT and RxNorm.
- Familiarity with semantics, ontologies, and knowledge representation (graphs, trees, hierarchies).
- Strong foundational knowledge of drug therapy and indications.
- Ability to work independently on a part-time contract basis.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in clinical informatics, medical content, or terminology.
- Experience with drug reference tools or clinical decision support systems.
- Familiarity with ICD-10 and LOINC.

This role is focused on clinical content and terminology work; it does not involve EHR build or configuration, nor software development.
