The Role
As a Client Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of established clients, serving as a trusted point of contact and delivering high-quality service across their accounting and tax needs. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a portfolio of established clients across a variety of sectors
- Building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with business owners and individuals
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients regarding their accounting and tax requirements
- Preparing and reviewing company accounts and financial statements
- Preparing and reviewing personal and corporation tax returns
- Preparing management accounts and other financial information as required
- Completing and reviewing VAT returns
- Providing clients with practical accounting and tax advice
- Attending client meetings to develop a deep understanding of individual client businesses
- Identifying opportunities to provide additional services and support
- Managing deadlines to ensure client work is completed accurately and efficiently
- Leveraging accounting software and the firm's technology platforms
- Collaborating closely with colleagues to deliver consistent, high-quality client service
- Supporting and guiding junior team members as needed
- Taking ownership of client relationships and the delivery of work
- Assisting with general accountancy and advisory tasks as required
About You
- Qualified or part-qualified ACA, ACCA, AAT, or equivalent; however, strong relevant practice experience will also be considered
- A minimum of 4 years' experience within a UK accountancy practice environment
- Proven experience managing a portfolio of clients
- Strong technical knowledge of accounts and taxation
- Confidence in direct communication with directors, business owners, and individuals
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills
- A commercial and practical approach to client management
- Ability to work independently and manage your workload
- A good understanding of modern accounting software and technology
- Acute attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Capability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Proactive, self-motivated, and professional in approach
- A strong commitment to delivering excellent client service
- A passion for building client relationships rather than just processing accounts
