Job Title: Teacher of Chemistry
We are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated Teacher of Chemistry who is committed to progressive pedagogical practices and capable of teaching at the MYP/IGCSE and IB Diploma levels. This role is tailored for a Chemistry specialist who balances both teaching and leadership responsibilities in alignment with the school's needs.
Main Duties:
- Teach across a diverse age and ability range, tailoring lessons to meet individual needs.
- Engage in the wider school community through participation in sporting events, extracurricular activities (ECAs), and other enrichment opportunities.
- Pursue continuous professional development and improvement.
- Demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding all young people.
- Handle subject-related administration as required and participate in or lead department meetings.
- Adhere to the school’s assessment and reporting processes, attending parents’ meetings as necessary.
- Maintain and promote exceptional health and safety standards within the Science Department.
- Ensure that Science stocks are properly managed, following CLEAPSS protocols for the safe storage, use, and disposal of materials.
The Ideal Candidate:
- A dedicated educator focused on continual improvement, embodying the attributes of the IB Learner Profile.
- Experience leading a Science Department, preferably with students enrolled in the IBDP.
- A good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly related subject.
- Commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Passionate about the subject with the ability to inspire and engage others.
- Open to new developments and innovations in teaching and willing to experiment with new practices.
- Prepared to supervise learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay as required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
