Job Opportunity: Teacher of Chemistry

We are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated Teacher of Chemistry who is passionate about innovative pedagogical practices. The ideal candidate will be equipped to teach Chemistry at the MYP, IGCSE, and IB Diploma levels. This position is tailored for a Chemistry specialist who is equally adept in the classroom and collaborative settings, balancing teaching and leadership responsibilities in alignment with the school's objectives.

Main Duties:

  • Teach across a diverse age and ability range, tailoring lessons to meet the needs of each individual student.
  • Contribute to the broader school community by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and other enrichment opportunities.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and improvement of teaching practices.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding all young people.
  • Complete any subject-related administration and actively participate in or lead department meetings.
  • Follow the school’s assessment and reporting processes, attending parent meetings as required.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of health and safety within the Science Department.
  • Ensure that science resources are managed effectively, adhering to CLEAPSS protocols for the safe storage, use, and disposal of materials.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A dedicated educator focused on continual improvement and embodying the attributes of the IB Learner Profile.
  • Previous experience leading a Science Department, preferably in an IBDP setting.
  • A good honors degree and/or a further degree in a directly related field.
  • A strong commitment to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • A passion for Chemistry with the ability to inspire students.
  • A willingness to embrace developments and innovations in teaching and learning, along with a readiness to experiment with new methods.
  • Ability to supervise students completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay as needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A shared educational philosophy with La Garenne International School, including enthusiasm for co-curricular and pastoral initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships and collaborating effectively with colleagues and school leadership.
  • Strong ICT literacy and a willingness to embrace new technologies in education.
