Teacher of Chemistry Position

We are seeking an outstanding and highly motivated Teacher of Chemistry who embraces innovative pedagogical practices and is capable of teaching the subject at MYP/IGCSE and IB Diploma levels. This position is designed for a Chemistry specialist who is comfortable in both classroom instruction and collaborative responsibilities, balancing teaching and leadership roles to meet the needs of our school.

Main Duties

  • Teach across various age groups and abilities, adapting lessons to meet the needs of each student.
  • Contribute to the wider school community through participation in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and other enrichment opportunities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and seek to enhance your teaching practice.
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to safeguarding all young people within the school environment.
  • Complete subject-related administrative tasks and participate in or lead department meetings as needed.
  • Follow the school’s assessment and reporting processes, attending parents’ meetings as required.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of Health & Safety within the Science Department.
  • Ensure the management and safe storage, use, and disposal of materials in accordance with CLEAPSS protocols.

The Ideal Candidate

  • You are an educator dedicated to continual improvement and embody the attributes of the IB Learner Profile.
  • You have prior experience leading a Science Department, preferably with students enrolled in the IBDP.
  • You hold a good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly-related subject.
  • You are committed to the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion in education.
  • You are passionate about your subject and possess the ability to inspire others.
  • You embrace developments and innovations in teaching and learning, and are willing to experiment with new methodologies.
  • You are open to acting as a supervisor for learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay as needed.
  • You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
