Chemicals Management & Lab Workflow Lead (m/f/d)
Roche Switzerland bridges the gap between pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, housing essential research and development functions. We are seeking a professional for our esteemed client, Roche Diagnostics International AG, located in Rotkreuz.
Background
The PCR Assay Development team is dedicated to creating molecular diagnostic and screening tests based on PCR technology, focusing on areas like infectious diseases, genomics, and oncology, all the way from early feasibility stages to commercial launch. Key responsibilities include:
- Initial prototyping and optimization of assay design to ensure product requirements and manufacturability.
- Development of test methods and acceptance criteria.
- Transfer of reagent manufacturing instructions, test methods, and workflows to Operations.
- Designing and executing verification and validation activities, including guard-band studies and stability studies.
- Documenting analytical performance for product labeling and regulatory submissions.
- Collaborating with multiple departments, such as Research, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and Business, to meet patient needs effectively.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Ordering chemicals and drugs for PCR Assay Development.
- Managing chemical inventory and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Overseeing chemical safety and maintenance of chemical storage.
- Managing chemical waste, including empty bins and expired materials.
- Conducting chemical safety training (e.g., spill response training).
- Collaborating with stakeholders to enhance digital chemical inventory solutions, ensuring integration with lab workflows and safety compliance.
- Working with cross-departmental teams and external stakeholders in a collaborative manner.
- Leading a small chemical support team (2-3 individuals) and participating in hiring and onboarding processes.
- Supporting audit activities.
- Proactively identifying and implementing lab workflow improvements in biosafety level 2 laboratories.
Must Haves
- Degree as a Biomedical Analyst Scientist (BMA HF), Lab Technician (Biology, Medical Diagnostics, Chemistry), or a Bachelor/Master's in Life Sciences/Pharmaceutical sciences with lab experience (PhD candidates not eligible).
- Ideally 2+ years of lab experience.
- Experience in biological environments with infectious sample handling at Biosafety Level 2.
- Proficient in both German and English, written and spoken.
- Strong communication skills.
- Knowledge of chemical safety protocols.
- Basic leadership experience (1+ years, preferably managing a small team).
- Open-minded team player with a proactive and organized work style.
- Flexible, strategic thinker who can work independently.
- Exceptional documentation skills.
Nice to Haves
- Experience in GMP/GLP/GCP environments.
- Familiarity with IT/software applications such as SAP, Signals eLN, Monday.com, Excel, and others.
- Prior audit experience.
