Chemicals Management & Lab Workflow Lead (m/f/d)
Roche Switzerland bridges the gap between pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, housing crucial research and development functions. We are seeking a qualified candidate for our esteemed client, Roche Diagnostics International AG in Rotkreuz.
Background
The PCR Assay Development team is dedicated to the creation of molecular diagnostic and screening tests utilizing PCR technology, with a focus on infectious diseases, genomics, and oncology—from initial feasibility studies to commercial launch. Our core responsibilities encompass:
- Initial prototyping and assay design optimization to satisfy product requirements and manufacturability.
- Development of test methods and acceptance criteria.
- Transfer of reagent manufacturing instructions, test methods, and workflows to Operations.
- Design and execution of verification and validation activities, including guard-band studies and stability studies.
- Documentation of analytical performance for product labeling and regulatory submission packages.
Throughout the product development phases, Assay Development collaborates with various departments including Research, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and Business to address patient needs effectively.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Ordering chemicals and drugs for PCR Assay Development.
- Managing chemical inventory and safety.
- Overseeing chemical waste management and training regarding chemical safety (e.g., chemical spill trainings).
- Maintaining a chemical storage concept within Assay Development.
- Collaborating with stakeholders to enhance and integrate digital chemical inventory solutions with lab workflows.
- Leading a small chemical support team (2-3 members) and participating in recruitment, onboarding, and member development.
- Providing audit support and identifying areas for lab workflow improvements in BSL-2 laboratories.
Must Haves
- Graduate as Biomedical Analyst Scientist (BMA HF), Lab Technician (Biology, Medical Diagnostics, Chemistry), or a Bachelor/Master's degree in Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical Science, with practical laboratory experience (no PhD graduates).
- Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience.
- Experience working in a biological environment handling infectious samples at Biosafety Level 2.
- Fluency in German and English, both written and verbal.
- Strong communication skills and foundational experience in chemical safety.
- Basic leadership experience (1+ years), ideally managing a team of 2-3 employees.
- An open-minded team player with a proactive mindset and organized working style.
- Flexible and strategic thinker with strong documentation skills.
Nice to Haves
- Experience in a GMP/GLP/GCP environment.
- Proficiency in IT/Software applications such as SAP, Signals eLN, Monday, Excel, and others.
- Audit experience.
