Chemicals Management & Lab Workflow Lead (m/f/d)
Roche Switzerland excels at bridging the gap between pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, hosting vital research and development functions. We are seeking a Chemicals Management & Lab Workflow Lead for our esteemed client, Roche Diagnostics International AG, located in Rotkreuz.
Background
The PCR Assay Development team is dedicated to developing molecular diagnostic and screening tests that harness PCR technology within the domains of infectious diseases, genomics, and oncology from the early feasibility stage to commercial launch. Our responsibilities encompass:
- Initial prototyping
- Optimization of assay design for product requirements and manufacturability
- Development of test methods and acceptance criteria
- Transfer of reagent manufacturing instructions, test methods, and workflows to Operations
- Design and execution of verification and validation activities, including guard-band studies, stability studies, and technical performance verification studies
- Documentation of analytical performance for product labeling and regulatory submission packages
Throughout the product development phases, the Assay Development team collaborates with several departments—including Research, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, and Business—to ensure we meet the evolving needs of patients.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Ordering chemicals and drugs for PCR Assay Development
- Managing chemical inventory
- Ensuring chemical safety
- Overseeing the chemical storage room
- Managing chemical waste, including empty bins and expired materials
- Responsible for chemical training, such as spill response trainings
- Maintaining a chemical storage concept
- Collaborating with stakeholders to enhance digital chemical inventory solutions, ensuring integration with lab workflows and safety standards
- Working closely with internal and external stakeholders
- Leading a small chemical support team, with responsibilities including recruitment, onboarding, and team development in collaboration with AD People Leaders
- Providing audit support
- Identifying opportunities for lab workflow enhancements in BSL-2 environments
Must Haves
- A graduate as a Biomedical Analyst Scientist (BMA HF) or an apprenticeship as a Lab Technician (Biology, Medical Diagnostics, Chemistry), or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical Science with lab practical experience (PhD graduates not considered)
- Ideally, 2+ years of laboratory experience
- Experience in biological environments involving infectious sample handling at Biosafety Level 2
- Fluency in German and English, both written and spoken
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience in chemical safety
- Basic leadership experience (1+ years) with a team of at least 2-3 members

- Exceptional documentation skills
Nice to Haves
- Experience in a GMP/GLP/GCP environment
