Your Mission

Job Description

  • Process Development: You will play a vital role in developing the next generation of Direct Air Capture technology. As a fluid dynamics specialist, you will support the Process Development team in modeling, validating, and optimizing the Climeworks carbon capture process.
  • CFD Analysis: You will perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis to predict and optimize airflow across our systems at various scales—from small-scale modeling of our filter structures to large-scale atmospheric dispersion modeling that informs plant architecture and enhances the CO2 removal capacity of our technology.
  • Collaboration with Mechanical Design: You will closely collaborate with mechanical design colleagues across departments, contributing to the design of new structures, vessels, and plant architectures. You will provide necessary pressure, velocity, and boundary conditions to our design engineers.
  • Model Development: You will lead the improvement roadmap for our CFD models, collaborating with external partners to develop new techniques that enhance the accuracy and applicability of our simulations.
  • Validation & Measurement: You will plan, execute, and evaluate validation measurements, drawing meaningful conclusions from your findings. Collaborating with our Testing teams, you will ensure that our models are robust and well-calibrated.
  • Communication & Presentation: You will communicate results, findings, and observations clearly and concisely to peers and present them in technical reviews.

Your Story

Requirements

  • Experience & Expertise: You are a proactive and innovative process, mechanical, or aerospace engineer with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics. You possess a strong technical background in thermodynamics, porous media, airflow, and/or thermal energy modeling.
  • Technical Proficiency: You have proven experience in running CFD simulations and exhibit a solid understanding of fluid mechanics, as well as experience in evaluating the behavior of complex gas phase systems.
  • Software Skills: You are proficient in Ansys Fluent/CFX and geometry meshing tools such as Workbench, Fluent Mesher, Discovery, SpaceClaim, among others.
  • Collaboration & Working Style: You are proactive, innovative, and collaborative, with an ability to work across disciplines and support others. You embrace challenges and are willing to take risks and explore new ideas.
  • Language Skills: English is the working language at Climeworks, and no additional language skills are required.
