Your Mission

Job Description

  • Process Development: You will play a vital role in developing the next generation of Direct Air Capture technology. As a fluid dynamics specialist, you will support the Process Development team in modeling, validating, and optimizing the Climeworks carbon capture process.
  • CFD Analysis: You will perform CFD analysis to predict and optimize air flow across our systems at various scales—from small-scale modeling of our filter structures to large-scale atmospheric dispersion modeling that informs plant architecture and improves CO2 removal capacity.
  • Collaboration with Mechanical Design: You will collaborate closely with mechanical design colleagues across departments, contributing to the design of new structures, vessels, and plant architectures while providing pressure, velocity, and other boundary conditions to our design engineers.
  • Model Development: You will drive the improvement roadmap for our CFD models, developing new techniques in collaboration with external partners to enhance the accuracy and applicability of our simulations.
  • Validation & Measurement: You will plan, execute, and evaluate validation measurements, drawing meaningful conclusions from your findings and collaborating with our Testing teams to ensure our models are robust and well-calibrated.
  • Communication & Presentation: You will communicate results, findings, and observations clearly and concisely to peers and present them in technical reviews.

Your Story

Requirements

  • Experience & Expertise: You are a proactive and innovative process, mechanical, or aerospace engineer with at least 5 years of experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics, possessing a strong technical background in thermodynamics, porous media, airflow, and/or thermal energy modeling.
  • Technical Proficiency: You have proven experience in running CFD simulations and a solid understanding of fluid mechanics, along with experience in evaluating the behavior of complex gas phase systems.
  • Software Skills: You are proficient in Ansys Fluent/CFX and geometry meshing tools (Workbench, Fluent Mesher, Discovery, Space Claim, etc.).
  • Collaboration & Working Style: You are proactive, innovative, and collaborative, able to work across disciplines and support others in their activities while seeking challenges and being open to taking risks and trying out new approaches.
  • Language Skills: English is the working language at Climeworks – no other language skills are required.
