Your Mission

Job Description

  • Process Development: You will play a vital role in developing the next generation of Direct Air Capture technology. As a fluid dynamics specialist, you'll support the Process Development team in modeling, validating, and optimizing Climeworks' carbon capture process.
  • CFD Analysis: Perform CFD analysis to predict and optimize air flow across our systems at various scales, from small-scale modeling of filter structures to large-scale atmospheric dispersion modeling that informs plant architecture and enhances CO2 removal capacity.
  • Collaboration with Mechanical Design: Collaborate closely with mechanical design colleagues across departments to contribute to the design of new structures, vessels, and plant architectures. You will provide essential pressure, velocity, and other boundary conditions to design engineers.
  • Model Development: Drive the improvement roadmap for CFD models and partner with external collaborators to develop new techniques that enhance the accuracy and applicability of our simulations.
  • Validation & Measurement: Plan, execute, and evaluate validation measurements, drawing meaningful conclusions from your findings. Work with Testing teams to ensure robustness and calibration of our models.
  • Communication & Presentation: Clearly communicate results, findings, and observations to peers and present in technical reviews.

Your Story

Requirements

  • Experience & Expertise: You are a proactive and innovative process, mechanical, or aerospace engineer with at least 5 years of experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics, possessing a strong technical background in thermodynamics, porous media, airflow, and/or thermal energy modeling.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proven experience in running CFD simulations and a solid understanding of fluid mechanics, along with the capability to evaluate the behavior of complex gas phase systems.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in Ansys Fluent/CFX and geometry meshing tools (such as Workbench, Fluent Mesher, Discovery, Space Claim, etc.).
  • Collaboration & Working Style: You are proactive, innovative, and enjoy collaborating with others across disciplines. You welcome challenges and are unafraid to take risks and explore new ideas.
  • Language Skills: English is the working language at Climeworks; no other language skills are required.
