Your Mission
Job Description
- Process Development: You'll be instrumental in developing the next generation of Direct Air Capture technology. As a specialist in fluid and heat flow dynamics, you will support the Process Development team in modeling, validating, and optimizing Climeworks' carbon capture process.
- CFD Analysis: You will conduct CFD analysis to predict and optimize fluid and heat flows across various scales, ranging from small-scale modeling of filter structures to large-scale atmospheric dispersion modeling, which will inform plant architecture and enhance CO2 removal capacity.
- Collaboration with Mechanical Design: You will work closely with mechanical design colleagues across departments, contributing to designing new structures, vessels, and plant architectures while providing essential temperature and velocity boundary conditions to design engineers.
- Model Development: You'll drive the improvement roadmap for our CFD models and, in collaboration with external partners, develop new techniques to enhance simulation accuracy, including complex multiphase and multiphysics flows.
- Validation & Measurement: Plan, execute, and evaluate validation measurements while drawing meaningful conclusions from findings in collaboration with our Testing teams to ensure robust and well-calibrated models.
- Communication & Presentation: Clearly and concisely communicate results, findings, and observations to peers and present them during technical reviews.
Your Story
Requirements
- Experience & Expertise: You are an innovative process or mechanical engineer with at least 5 years of experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics, coupled with a strong technical background in thermodynamics, porous media, fluid mechanics, or thermal energy modeling. Experience with multiphase systems is a plus.
- Technical Proficiency: You have a proven track record in running CFD simulations and a solid understanding of fluid mechanics, coupled with experience in evaluating heat transfer behavior through thermal analysis.
- Software Skills: Proficiency in ANSYS FLUENT and geometry meshing tools (Workbench, Fluent Mesher, Discovery, Space Claim, etc.) is essential.
- Collaboration & Working Style: You are a collaborative team player with an innovative yet structured approach to work.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English is required.
