Your Mission
Job Description
- Process Development: You will play a vital role in developing the next generation of Direct Air Capture technology. As a fluid and heat flow dynamics specialist, support the Process Development team in modeling, validating, and optimizing Climeworks' carbon capture process.
- CFD Analysis: Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis to predict and optimize fluid and heat flows at various scales, enhancing CO2 removal capacity and informing plant architecture.
- Collaboration with Mechanical Design: Work closely with mechanical design colleagues across departments in designing new structures, vessels, and plant architectures, providing essential boundary conditions for design engineers.
- Model Development: Drive the improvement roadmap for CFD models, collaborating with external partners to enhance simulation accuracy and applicability.
- Validation & Measurement: Plan, execute, and evaluate validation measurements, drawing meaningful conclusions and collaborating with Testing teams to ensure model robustness.
- Communication & Presentation: Clearly and concisely communicate results, findings, and observations to peers, and present them during technical reviews.
Your Story
Requirements
- Experience & Expertise: You are a proactive and innovative process or mechanical engineer with a minimum of 5 years in Computational Fluid Dynamics, possessing a strong technical background in thermodynamics, porous media, fluid mechanics, and thermal energy modeling. Experience with multiphase systems is a plus.
- Technical Proficiency: Proven experience in running CFD simulations with a solid understanding of fluid mechanics, coupled with experience in evaluating heat transfer behavior through thermal analysis.
- Software Skills: Proficient in ANSYS FLUENT and geometry meshing tools (such as Workbench, Fluent Mesher, Discovery, Space Claim, etc.).
- Collaboration & Working Style: A collaborative team player with an innovative yet structured approach to work.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English is essential.

Salary
At Climeworks, salary ranges are assigned based on the level of seniority and the location-specific market median of similar jobs according to external benchmark surveys. Individual compensation depends on your skills, experience, and the value you bring to the team.
Formalities
This position is based in Zurich, and we ask that you work onsite at least three days per week. We do not accept candidate profiles through recruitment agencies.
