Your Mission

Job Description

  • Process Development: Play a vital role in advancing the next generation of Direct Air Capture technology. As a specialist in fluid and heat flow dynamics, you will support the Process Development team in modeling, validating, and optimizing Climeworks' carbon capture processes.
  • CFD Analysis: Conduct CFD analysis to predict and enhance fluid and heat flows at varying scales, from small-scale modeling of filter structures to large-scale atmospheric dispersion modeling, informing plant architecture and improving CO2 removal capacity.
  • Collaboration with Mechanical Design: Work closely with mechanical design colleagues across departments, contributing to the design of new structures, vessels, and plant architectures by providing critical boundary conditions like temperature and velocity to design engineers.
  • Model Development: Drive the improvement roadmap for CFD models. Collaborate with external partners to develop new techniques enhancing the accuracy and applicability of simulations, including complex multiphase and multiphysics flows.
  • Validation & Measurement: Plan, execute, and evaluate validation measurements, drawing meaningful conclusions from your findings while ensuring models remain robust and well-calibrated through collaboration with Testing teams.
  • Communication & Presentation: Clearly and concisely communicate results, findings, and observations to peers and present them in technical reviews.

Your Story

Requirements

  • Experience & Expertise: A proactive and innovative process or mechanical engineer with at least 5 years of experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics, along with a solid technical background in thermodynamics, porous media, fluid mechanics, and thermal energy modeling. Experience with multiphase systems is a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proven experience in conducting CFD simulations and a strong understanding of fluid mechanics, coupled with expertise in evaluating heat transfer behavior through thermal analysis.
  • Software Skills: Proficient in ANSYS FLUENT and geometry meshing tools such as Workbench, Fluent Mesher, Discovery, and Space Claim.
  • Collaboration & Working Style: A collaborative team player who embraces an innovative yet structured working approach.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English.

What We Offer

  • Time Off: Enjoy 25 paid vacation days annually, in addition to public holidays.
