Your Mission

Job Description

  • Process Development: You will play a vital role in developing the next generation of Direct Air Capture technology. As a specialist in fluid and heat flow dynamics, you will support the Process Development team in modeling, validating, and optimizing Climeworks' carbon capture processes.
  • CFD Analysis: Conduct CFD analysis to predict and optimize fluid and heat flows across various scales, from small-scale modeling of our filter structures to large-scale atmospheric dispersion modeling that informs plant architecture and enhances the CO2 removal capacity of our technology.
  • Collaboration with Mechanical Design: Work closely with mechanical design colleagues across departments. Contribute to the design of new structures, vessels, and plant architectures by providing temperature, velocity, and other boundary conditions to our design engineers.
  • Model Development: Drive the improvement roadmap for our CFD models. Collaborate with external partners to develop new techniques that enhance the accuracy and applicability of our simulations, including complex multiphase and multiphysics flows.
  • Validation & Measurement: Plan, execute, and evaluate validation measurements, drawing meaningful conclusions from your findings. Collaborate with our Testing teams to ensure the robustness and calibration of our models.
  • Communication & Presentation: Clearly and concisely communicate results, findings, and observations to peers and present them during technical reviews.

Your Story

Requirements

  • Experience & Expertise: Proactive and innovative process or mechanical engineer with at least 5 years of experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics. Strong technical background in thermodynamics, porous media, fluid mechanics, and/or thermal energy modeling. Experience with multiphase systems is a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proven experience in running CFD simulations and a solid understanding of fluid mechanics, along with experience evaluating heat transfer behavior through thermal analysis.
  • Software Skills: Proficient in ANSYS FLUENT and geometry meshing tools (Workbench, Fluent Mesher, Discovery, Space Claim, etc.).
  • Collaboration & Working Style: A collaborative team player with an innovative yet structured working approach.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English.
