  • Expert coaching and guidance
  • A fully equipped Makerspace where students can access tools and equipment necessary for prototyping

Your Work Environment

You'll work in one of the most inspiring spaces at ETH Zürich, surrounded by 3D-printers, whiteboards, self-designed furniture, and vibrant plants. • Introductions, Supervision, and Safety: Introducing students to tools and machines, supervising their use, and ensuring their safety.
  • Coaching: Supporting early-stage student projects with your technical expertise.
  • Workshops: Co-facilitating and eventually leading workshops in the woodworking area. We welcome your ideas for expanding our offerings based on your expertise.
  • Design and Make: Assisting in the design and construction of custom infrastructure and furniture to enhance our space.

We seek a candidate who brings both technical skill and a passion for mentoring, including:

  • Completion of an apprenticeship as a carpenter or woodworker (Schreiner:in) with a Swiss Federal Certificate of Competence (EFZ).
  • A strong affinity for tools, machinery, and hands-on work.
  • Confidence in enforcing safety rules and responsibility for student safety.
  • A knack for realizing your own projects, including learning from failures.
  • A desire to work with students, support their growth, and adapt to their needs.
  • Comfort in speaking in front of groups and leading workshops.
  • Fluency in English (C1) and proficiency in German (B2 or higher), both spoken and written.
  • Familiarity with modern communication tools and standard workshop infrastructure.

Note: Research suggests that women and individuals from marginalized groups tend to apply only when they meet all criteria. If you believe you’re qualified but don't check every box, we encourage you to apply online using the form below.
