About the Role
Swiss Himmel GmbH is on the lookout for an IT Business Data Analyst with extensive experience in enterprise banking systems, Swiss-specific interface design and integration, and data management modernization in Basel, Switzerland. This role emphasizes impact assessments for application re-wiring, resolution of data-related issues, data extraction and analysis to support business decision-making, stakeholder problem identification, management of legacy system migrations to a data lake, and continuous stakeholder engagement.
This is a unique opportunity for professionals possessing a blend of expertise in core banking, wealth management products, big data migration projects on the cloud, automation, and experience with both distributed on-prem Data Lakes and RDBMS.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate business needs into data models while evaluating existing data models and physical databases for discrepancies.
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to enhance data quality and system functionalities.
- Test newly sourced data sets against schemas and business requirements.
- Utilize data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI effectively.
- Leverage strong functional knowledge of financial instruments, including Equities, Bonds, Loans, and Derivatives products.
- Analyze data to address complex systems, conduct Data Modeling, manage Data Governance, Data lineage across systems, and facilitate solutions for cloud data migration.
- Perform qualitative data analysis and assist in mapping specifications for Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes from diverse datastores, building data pipelines for big data platforms and Data Warehouse/Data Lake.
- Develop robust partnerships with business users by serving as a point of contact for capturing requirements, managing stakeholder expectations, and mitigating project-related risks.
- Lead and manage legacy-to-modern data migrations, lifecycle projects, and cutover activities.
- Guide and oversee onshore and offshore teams to ensure alignment with business goals and IT strategies.
Required Skills & Experience
- Data Analytics, Data Warehousing, Data Modeling, MIS/BI, Requirements Gathering, and Business Analysis in the financial domain.
- Functional Expertise: Banking and Financial services covering Capital Markets, Retail & Corporate Banking (Lending, Liability products, Payments, Corporate Loans, Collateral Lending, Payments & SWIFT, Portfolio, Credit Card systems).
- Core Banking Products: Proficient knowledge of products such as Temenos, Midas Plus, Equation, Finacle, or a similar suite of applications.
- Technical Skills: PL/SQL, Python, Unix/Linux, HP ALM, MS Project, MS Office, Microservices, REST/SOAP APIs.
- Migration & Lifecycle Expertise: Extensive experience in legacy-to-modern data migrations, cutover projects, and lifecycle management.
- Business Requirement Analysis & Project Management: Familiarity with Agile/Scrum, Jira, ServiceNow, ITIL processes (incident, problem, change management).
- Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining Cloud-based and SaaS software solutions.
- Strong understanding of relational databases (Oracle/Sybase), ETL tools (Informatica), and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI).
- Hands-on experience with reference and transaction data within a large banking landscape, covering multiple source systems and consumers.
- Comprehensive knowledge of financial data classification/sensitivity and data modeling standards/tools.
- A proven business-focused mindset that delivers value through automation, process improvements, and operational excellence.
