YOUR PROFILE

As a Boarding Assistant, you will be an integral member of the house team in one of our six boarding houses, supporting the Housemaster/Mistress (HM) and Deputy Housemaster/Mistress (DHM). This residential position requires you to live either in one of our boarding houses or in nearby accommodation.

The primary goal of this role is to provide exceptional care, support, and guidance to students in the boarding house. Additionally, there are ample opportunities to engage in other areas of school life, including assisting students during lessons and leading extracurricular and weekend activities, such as the ski program in the winter term.

This position includes significant training and development opportunities, making it particularly suitable for individuals considering a career in education or related fields that involve working with children and teenagers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with the HM and DHM to ensure the successful operation of the house, providing the best possible care and experience for students.
  • Build rapport with students and support them on an individual basis.
  • Maintain an active, dynamic, and positive presence in the house throughout the day and evening.
  • Assist with house administration as needed.
  • Participate extensively in the weekend program.
  • Support 6-8 lessons per week.
  • Contribute to two activities or sports teams throughout the year.
  • Oversee overnight supervision in the Boarding House.
  • Assist at La Sionnaire during the winter season (chalet on the ski slopes).
  • Provide study supervision.
  • Work alongside the Health Centre team to support students and facilitate appointments.
  • Handle reception duties.
  • Manage airport transfers.
  • Attend weekly Training and Support Meetings.
  • Carry out any other duties as required by the School.

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree-level qualification.
  • Native English speaker or possess a high level of English comprehension; proficiency in French is advantageous, but not essential.
  • Competent IT skills.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working with young people in a residential setting is beneficial, although not mandatory.

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and planning abilities.
  • A good sense of humour.
  • Ability to establish positive working relationships within the house team, boarding team, and across the school.
  • Willingness to participate in an internal continuing professional development (CPD) program during the year.
  • Holder of a European passport for compliance with Swiss work permit regulations.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • A 10-month fixed contract from September 2025 to June 2026.
  • Accommodation included for the duration of the contract (subject to social charges).

  • Full season ski pass and equipment hire included.
