Position Overview
The Commercial Director will lead and oversee all commercial activities, including sales, marketing, business development, and client relationship management. This role requires a proven strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the fine wine and spirits market, and the ability to generate tangible business results.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the commercial team, including sales, purchasing, and marketing.
- Develop and execute business strategies to expand into new markets and revenue streams.
- Drive sales growth, ensuring consistent profitability and sustainable long-term results.
- Personally manage key client accounts, maintaining strong relationships and overseeing high-value transactions.
- Identify and implement innovative revenue opportunities, such as new product lines to increase turnover.
- Oversee stock management and commercial planning for the fine wine portfolio.
- Design and implement customer satisfaction initiatives to enhance client experience and retention.
- Introduce and supervise marketing systems and digital tools to improve team efficiency and reporting.
- Collaborate with board members to shape company strategy, set goals, and track performance metrics.
- Represent the company externally through wine expositions, tastings, client presentations, and industry events.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 20+ years of experience in the fine wine industry, with board-level management experience preferred.
- Proven track record in sales management, business development, and strategic planning.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring high-performing teams.
- Expertise in negotiation, purchasing, and account management.
- Experience with outbound and email marketing campaigns.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and research skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and public speaking abilities.
- Deep experience, knowledge, and proven track record of sales to the US market.
- Native English is non-negotiable.
