Position Overview

The Commercial Director will lead and oversee all commercial activities, including sales, marketing, business development, and client relationship management. This role requires a proven strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of the fine wine and spirits market, and the ability to generate tangible business results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the commercial team, including sales, purchasing, and marketing.
  • Develop and execute business strategies to expand into new markets and revenue streams.
  • Drive sales growth, ensuring consistent profitability and sustainable long-term results.
  • Personally manage key client accounts, maintaining strong relationships and overseeing high-value transactions.
  • Identify and implement innovative revenue opportunities, such as new product lines to increase turnover.
  • Oversee stock management and commercial planning for the fine wine portfolio.
  • Design and implement customer satisfaction initiatives to enhance client experience and retention.
  • Introduce and supervise marketing systems and digital tools to improve team efficiency and reporting.
  • Collaborate with board members to shape company strategy, set goals, and track performance metrics.
  • Represent the company externally through wine expositions, tastings, client presentations, and industry events.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • 20+ years of experience in the fine wine industry, with board-level management experience preferred.
  • Proven track record in sales management, business development, and strategic planning.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring high-performing teams.
  • Expertise in negotiation, purchasing, and account management.
  • Experience with outbound and email marketing campaigns.
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and research skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and public speaking abilities.
  • Deep experience, knowledge, and proven track record of sales to the US market.
  • Native English is non-negotiable.
