Position: Bioprocess Engineer - Large Scale Mammalian USP
Due to growth at our site in Visp, we are currently seeking a Bioprocess Engineer specializing in large scale mammalian upstream processes. This role involves a variety of key responsibilities, including:
- Planning, executing, and documenting manufacturing campaigns in mammalian cell culture and purification.
- Leading multi-disciplinary project teams as the Functional Lead for all manufacturing aspects of assigned products.
- Preparing and executing Safety, Health, Environment (SHE) assessments, Environmental Monitoring (EM), and cleaning risk analyses for assigned products, along with implementing and controlling defined measures.
- Establishing high-quality production documentation specific to assigned production areas in a timely manner.
- Implementing state-of-the-art regulatory requirements in corresponding assets and products.
- Performing manufacturing activities according to cGMP guidelines, overseeing batch execution, evaluating test results, troubleshooting manufacturing equipment, and providing recommendations for resolution.
- Serving as a production expert in capital investment projects for the setup and commissioning of manufacturing units, including automation.
- Implementing relevant GMP documents for the respective area.
- Training biotechnologists (operators) for the manufacturing of assigned products.
- Representing Lonza’s manufacturing unit during customer audits and visits.
- Executing innovation and improvement projects encompassing general manufacturing aspects for the production plant.
- Ensuring a high level of technical and process standardization within the production facility.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or related disciplines.
- Broad biotechnology expertise and/or knowledge in biotechnical engineering, preferably in the area of mammalian cell culture and/or protein purification.
- Fluency in German and English; basic understanding of GMP.
- Strong leadership skills and excellent communication abilities, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
- Structured, focused, and well-organized work ethic; open-minded to new ideas and suggestions; motivated with a dynamic drive; solution-oriented.
