To support our continued growth, Lonza is seeking Bioprocess Engineers with a relevant background in Life Sciences and a passion for Biotechnology to join our talent community in Visp, Switzerland. We invite you to be part of this exciting opportunity and apply online using the form below for the position of Bioprocess Engineer within our Mammalian Business Division, focusing either on Upstream Processing or Downstream Processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that operational activities for clinical and/or commercial manufacturing are performed on-time and within established safety and quality standards.
  • Act as the functional lead for preparation, manufacturing execution, cleaning, and changeover in the assigned area.
  • Lead one or more defined USP areas (e.g., seed train, main cultivation, or harvest) for the production of therapeutic proteins utilizing either mammalian or microbial expression systems (Bioprocess Engineer USP).
  • Oversee one or more defined DSP areas (e.g., capture, polishing, or filling) for the purification of therapeutic proteins from mammalian sources (Bioprocess Engineer DSP).

Key Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related Life Science subject, or a Bachelor’s degree with experience in pharmaceutical production.
  • Knowledge in either USP (e.g., bioreactors) or DSP units (e.g., chromatography).
  • A few years of working experience in biomanufacturing is required.
  • GMP experience and an understanding of bioprocess technology.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; proficiency in German is a plus.
