Main Purpose

The main purpose of this role is to conduct battery metals market analysis, including the maintenance of supply and demand models, to provide timely market insights to the trading team.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • In-depth knowledge of commodity markets and their drivers.
  • Prior experience in commodity research, specifically in metals or bulks.
  • Analytical mindset and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools and statistical data modeling software.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex concepts effectively.
  • Technical proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Preferred candidates should have programming experience and a solid understanding of database concepts (Python and SQL; R, MATLAB, or VBA are beneficial).
  • Ability to work independently and proactively to deliver timely results.
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in another language is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collating, analyzing, and interpreting data to produce commodity market insights.
  • Building and maintaining regional and global supply and demand models for battery metals.
  • Conducting cost of production modeling and analysis.
  • Performing metal consumption analysis and forecasting.
  • Executing trade flow analysis and ad-hoc analyses to support trading strategies.
  • Delivering relevant, timely, and actionable analysis.

  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) to articulate complex concepts clearly to stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage time effectively while digesting extensive information.
