Opportunity: Automation Engineer (80-100%)

The site in Visp, Switzerland is expanding, and for our Biologics organization, we are seeking an Automation Engineer (m/f/d) to implement the Visp Biologics Automation Recipe Lifecycle. This role will support Lonza’s manufacturing operations and involve close collaboration with teams across all Biologics Manufacturing assets, coordinating recipe object updates, testing, documentation, and installation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of a standardized recipe lifecycle approach for products in the routine manufacturing phase.
  • Contribute to the development of recipes for New Production Introduction.
  • Co-author cGMP-compliant documentation (FS, Software Test Cases, SOPs, etc.) in collaboration with the Bioprocess Engineer, Plant Lead, QA, and MSAT.
  • Monitor and modify processes under change control during the start-up, qualification, and production phases, participating in risk and process deviation analyses.
  • Assist in building and modifying shared recipe objects, and defining EC Modules in the MES / DeltaV or equivalent systems used in production processes.
  • Contribute to improving procedures and processes in compliance with safety, hygiene, environmental, and quality requirements in the area of responsibility.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biotechnology, Computer Engineering, Science, or equivalent experience.
  • Structured, focused, and well-organized work ethic; solution-oriented and open-minded to new insights.
  • Expertise with MES Syncade or DeltaV is highly desired; familiarity with other GMP systems (LIMS, SAP, MODA, etc.) is a plus.
  • Ability to identify and discuss risks related to security or compliance/GMP and assist in their rectification.
  • Experience in team collaboration and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good understanding of IT/process control systems with recognition of operational optimization potential.
  • Business proficiency in English.
