Position Summary

The Associate Director of Sourcing and Procurement will play a vital role in the Acadia Sourcing & Procurement team, spearheading the development of sourcing strategies for indirect categories with key vendors across Europe. This position is crucial for ensuring that the necessary capabilities, guidance, and resources are in place, as well as for the effective implementation of category management plans. Additionally, the Associate Director will act as a liaison for all procurement activities within the EU region, overseeing the identification, assessment, selection, negotiation, execution of contracts, and maintaining relationships with key EU vendors. This role will also contribute to the corporate sourcing and procurement policies, compliance reporting, and financial tracking. The position is based in Zug, Switzerland.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop both immediate and long-term global sourcing strategies for EU indirect vendors, focusing on Commercial, General & Administrative (G&A), and Medical Affairs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Acadia Procurement Operations team to implement procurement processes and systems for the EU, providing training to local stakeholders.
  • Work proactively with business stakeholders, including senior executives, to identify sourcing needs.
  • Assess, benchmark, and negotiate existing key vendor contracts while bringing in new vendors as necessary.
  • Continuously monitor and improve vendor performance locally, including the implementation of supplier KPIs.
  • Cooperate with the US and European FP&A teams on vendor cost budgeting, forecasting, and validating savings.
  • Familiarity with European manufacturing and supply chain vendors is advantageous.

Education/Experience/Skills

A Bachelor’s degree in a business or finance-related field is required, along with a minimum of 8 years of sourcing experience and category knowledge in commercial/G&A/Medical Affairs. A deep understanding of the European vendor landscape in the life sciences industry is essential. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may also be considered.

Key Candidate Qualities

  • Fluency in English is required, with verbal and written proficiency. Full command of German (and preferably French) for business negotiations, supplier, and vendor management is necessary. Additional relevant European language skills are a plus.
  • Excellent capabilities in vendor contract negotiation and review.
  • Proficient knowledge of S2P (Coupa), CLM (Agiloft), and ERP (NetSuite) systems.
  • Experience in international vendor risk assessment and management processes/tools.
  • Sound understanding of pharmaceutical and biotechnology regulatory, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with sourcing savings report methodologies and related tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, flexibility, and sound judgment across all management levels.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Willingness to pursue innovative approaches that yield tangible results and savings.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to interpret and comprehend contracts.
  • Willingness to travel to the US and other EU countries, with an expectation of approximately 10% international or EU-based travel as needed.
