Position Summary

The Associate Director of Sourcing and Procurement will play a pivotal role within the Acadia Sourcing & Procurement team, spearheading the development of indirect category sourcing strategies for key vendors across Europe. This position is responsible for ensuring that the appropriate capabilities, guidance, resources, and accountabilities are established, alongside the development and implementation of sourcing category management plans within the region. Serving as a liaison for all procurement operations in the EU, this role encompasses the identification, assessment, selection, negotiation, and management of contracts with key EU vendors. Additionally, the Associate Director will contribute to corporate sourcing & procurement policy, compliance reporting, and financial tracking. This role is based in Zug, Switzerland.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop both immediate and long-term global sourcing strategies for EU indirect vendors, focusing on Commercial, G&A, and Medical Affairs.
  • Collaborate closely with the Acadia Procurement Operations team to implement EU procurement processes and systems, while conducting training for local stakeholders.
  • Proactively engage with business stakeholders, including senior executives, to identify sourcing needs.
  • Assess, benchmark, and negotiate existing key vendor contracts while bringing in new vendors as necessary.
  • Monitor and continuously improve local vendor performance, including the implementation of supplier KPIs.
  • Collaborate with the US/Europe FP&A team on vendor cost budgeting, forecasting, and saving validation.
  • Knowledge of European manufacturing and supply chain vendors is an advantage.

Education/Experience/Skills

Bachelor's degree in a business or finance-related field, with a minimum of 8+ years of sourcing experience and category knowledge in Commercial, G&A, and Medical Affairs. An in-depth understanding of the European vendor landscape in the life sciences industry is essential. Equivalent combinations of relevant education and experience may also be considered.

Key Candidate Qualities

  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written, is mandatory. Proficient command of German (and preferably French) is required for business negotiations and supplier management. Additional European language skills are an advantage.
  • Exceptional vendor contract negotiation and review capabilities.
  • Proficient in S2P (Coupa), CLM (Agiloft), and ERP (NetSuite) systems.
  • Experience in international vendor risk assessment and management processes/tools.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical/biotech regulations, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with sourcing savings report methodologies and related reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, maintain flexibility, exercise good judgment, and collaborate effectively with management at all levels.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and a commitment to identifying innovative ways to achieve tangible results and savings.
  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to interpret and comprehend contracts effectively.
  • Willingness to travel to the US and other EU countries, with expectations of approximately 10% international or EU-based travel when necessary.
