Associate CTSM - Contract - Rochester, NY

Primary Responsibilities
The successful candidate will play a key role in specimen handling, data entry, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This position involves working in varying temperature conditions and demands strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
Skills & Requirements
- Degree in Biomedical Sciences or a related field (Associate's or Bachelor's preferred).
- Proficiency with email and basic computer programs.
- Strong data entry skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for extended periods (3-4 hours).
- Capability to lift packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow company policies and safety procedures to minimize risks associated with blood and bodily fluid exposure.
- Distribute specimens to appropriate departments for timely analysis.
- Ensure client satisfaction by delivering exceptional service to internal customers.
- Open shipping packages, remove airway bills, and organize items into designated bags.
- Enter receipt information into the system accurately.
- Sort specimens to the appropriate areas as needed.
- Perform monthly freezer maintenance, including clearing ice buildup.
- Handle samples under various temperature conditions, including ultra-cold (-80°C) and liquid nitrogen (-196°C).
- Print referral manifests and prepare specimens for delivery to reference laboratories.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including frozen storage unit upkeep and waste ice disposal.
- Sweep floors and perform housekeeping tasks as directed.
- Conduct and document daily maintenance and monitoring activities, such as specimen rotation and temperature checks.
- Comply with regulations from the FDA, New York State Department of Health, Good Clinical Practice, and International Air Transport Association.
- Apply knowledge of U.S. and international shipping requirements when preparing and consulting on specimen shipments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Compensation
$15 - $18/Hour
