Assistant Underwriter - Property
Role Purpose
The Assistant Underwriter will support the Property Underwriting Team by fulfilling a set of defined responsibilities. This includes providing assistance with Underwriting Controls within established parameters and ensuring compliance with both regulatory and company standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Monitor indications, quotes, slips, and policies to ensure they are received and accurately recorded; report on EPI to the Underwriting Team.
- Produce standard reports to support SBF filing, reinsurance renewals, the Starr business plan, and various ad-hoc reports, ensuring they are both accurate and fit for their intended purpose.
- Assist the Credit Control team in investigating outstanding premiums, resolving queries, and managing aged debts.
- Ensure that all Underwriting files are complete and accurate by obtaining any outstanding items from brokers or underwriters.
- Conduct Peer Reviews, PBQA, and Contract Certainty checks when appropriate, ensuring that the 4 Eye principle has been approved, completed, and documented.
- Liaise with brokers to follow up on outstanding quotes and/or renewals as directed by senior stakeholders.
- Verify that signings are accurate and consistent with written confirmations.
- Assist with NatCat modeling using RMS as instructed by senior stakeholders.
- Perform data entry into the Underwriting Systems.
- Support the underwriting team by utilizing the agreed underwriting authority competently and consistently.
Experience Required
- A minimum of 2 years underwriting experience.
- Knowledge of the class of business.
- A solid understanding of underwriting processes, controls, and systems.
Languages
Fluent in both German and English.
