Assistant Underwriter - Property
Role Purpose
The primary objective of this position is to support the Property Underwriting Team through defined responsibilities. You will play a crucial role in maintaining Underwriting Controls within set parameters while ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Monitor indications, quotes, slips, and policies to ensure they are received and recorded accurately. Regularly report on EPI to the Underwriting Team.
- Produce standard reports in support of SBF filing, reinsurance renewals, the Starr business plan, and other ad-hoc reports, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
- Assist the Credit Control team in investigating outstanding premiums, resolving queries, and managing aged debts.
- Ensure all underwriting files are complete and accurate by obtaining any outstanding items from brokers or underwriters.
- Conduct Peer Reviews, PBQA, and Contract Certainty checks where appropriate, ensuring the 4 Eye principle is approved, completed, and filed.
- Liaise with brokers to follow up on outstanding quotes and/or renewals as directed by senior stakeholders.
- Ensure that signings are accurate and align with written confirmations.
- Assist with NatCat modeling using RMS as directed by senior stakeholders.
- Undertake data entry in the Underwriting Systems.
- Support the underwriting team by utilizing the agreed underwriting authority in a competent and consistent manner.
Experience Required
- Minimum of 2 years of underwriting experience.
- Knowledge of the class of business.
- Understanding of underwriting processes, controls, and systems.
Languages
Fluency in both German and English is required.
