Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Teacher of Art with a passion for inspiring students at our stunning all-through 4-18 international boarding school in the beautiful Swiss Alps.

Main Duties

  • Teach across a diverse age and ability range, tailoring lessons to meet individual student needs.
  • Engage with the wider school community by participating in sporting events, extracurricular activities, and various enrichment opportunities.
  • Contribute as a member of our Boarding Department.
  • Commit to continuous professional development and practice enhancement.
  • Mentor a small group of learners, monitoring their academic achievements and overall well-being.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safeguarding all young people.
  • Handle subject-related administrative tasks and actively participate in departmental meetings.
  • Adhere to the school’s assessment and reporting guidelines and attend parents’ meetings when necessary.

Person Specification

  • Possess a good honours degree and/or a further degree in a directly-related subject.
  • Embrace the principles of equality, diversity, and inclusion in education.
  • Demonstrate a passion for the subject and the ability to inspire others.
  • Welcome developments and innovations in teaching and learning, with a willingness to experiment with new practices.
  • Be prepared to supervise learners completing the MYP Personal Project or the DP Extended Essay.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, with English as a mother tongue.
  • Share the educational vision of La Garenne International School, including our holistic approach to education, and be eager to contribute to co-curricular and pastoral life at the school.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, capable of building relationships and collaborating effectively with colleagues and school leadership.
  • Possess strong ICT competency and a willingness to embrace new technologies.
  • Maintain a positive outlook, approach change with optimism, and possess a good sense of humour.
