Job Opportunity: ART Executive Underwriter (EMEA Markets)

We are seeking an experienced ART Executive Underwriter for the EMEA markets (m/f/d), with potential locations in Wallisellen, Munich, Cologne, or Vienna.

Your Team

The Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) line of business at Allianz Commercial specializes in innovative, tailored structured insurance, captive reinsurance, and other non-traditional risk management solutions for a diverse range of large corporate clients globally. We pride ourselves on helping customers mitigate their most complex risks through bespoke multi-year and multi-line agreements, leveraging our deep expertise in alternative risk transfer complemented by the global capabilities of Allianz Group.

The Impact You Will Have

In this role, you'll implement the global ART strategy within the EMEA markets, assuming responsibility for the underwriting results of your transaction portfolio. Your focus will include market management and achieving underwriting excellence. You will identify and capitalize on cross-selling opportunities with Allianz Commercial while crafting innovative and complex solutions in a competitive landscape.

Your contributions will be vital in driving the continued expansion of ART in EMEA, ensuring profitable growth with sophisticated corporate clients, and fostering active collaboration with other Allianz Commercial Lines of Business.

Your Specific Responsibilities

• Global Sub-LoB Underwriting Execution
  • Develop and execute the global ART strategy for EMEA in underwriting and business development
  • Drive profitable growth by identifying market opportunities and new client segments
  • Close key transactions with target clients
  • Develop and implement strategic global market management tools
• Product / Service Development
  • Lead new product developments for select market opportunities in ART
  • Interface with Allianz Group products, leveraging the strong Allianz brand
• Relationship Management
  • Represent ART internally within AGCS and the Allianz Group, and externally to the market from a Senior Underwriting perspective
  • Proactively build long-term relationships with key client and broker contacts
  • Collaborate with other functions, especially Underwriting, Legal, Claims, and Deal Services
• Market Insight and Reporting
  • Develop and maintain current and comprehensive client and industry segment insight
  • Deliver relevant market and competitor insights to the business
  • Develop, implement, and disseminate operational measurements, KPIs, and SLAs to enhance business performance globally and locally

What You'll Bring to the Role

• Strong strategic underwriting skills in structured underwriting, including segmentation, client differentiation, and value proposition development
• A minimum of 5-7 years of underwriting experience in a specialty area
• Proven ability to develop markets and clients effectively
• In-depth knowledge of large corporate risks and structured risk insurance, with a strong grasp of market dynamics and customer needs
• Experience in implementing best practices in sales distribution and channel management
• A track record of developing innovative solutions and conveying strategies in a fast-paced environment
• Exceptional communication skills in written and spoken English, with strong negotiation capabilities at senior levels
• Expertise in structuring and executing complex structured insurance transactions
• An entrepreneurial mindset with a history of positively influencing strategy and results
• A university degree or professional designation in Actuarial, Insurance, Underwriting, Finance, or Legal
• Proficiency in integrating AI into various business functions to enhance efficiency and foster a culture of data-driven innovation

Further Information

For Germany, the base salary for this position ranges from EUR 87,000 to EUR 116,000 and for Austria, it ranges from EUR 84,000 to EUR 111,000 (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered will depend on the requirements of the role and the candidate’s profile, including education, qualifications, expertise, and experience. The offered salary may vary based on the location of the role. Furthermore, in addition to the base salary, we provide an attractive performance-based variable component and potential additional benefits.
