Position Overview
We are seeking an Application Manager for the ECA region (Europe, Caspian, and Africa) to join our Chemtech team based in Winterthur, Switzerland. In this technical-commercial role, you will develop as an application and product specialist, creating innovative solutions for separation column design in distillation, absorption, and extraction units. You will collaborate with technical and commercial teams to effectively drive negotiations and shape meaningful proposals that address our clients’ needs.
Your Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Technical Sales Support: Provide expertise and support to Front Sales teams for projects across Europe, Caspian, and Africa, including active travel within the designated market area to engage directly with clients.
- Application & Knowledge Management: Oversee application knowledge management for specific uses, fostering strong relationships with client technical experts and actively acquiring new clients.
- Column Design & Technical Development: Simulate separations and design mass transfer columns according to client specifications, develop tailored technical concepts, and perform hydraulic designs using commercially available simulation and in-house rating tools.
- Cost Optimization & Pricing: Conduct CAPEX and OPEX optimized technical solutions for relevant application fields, prepare detailed price calculations, and handle tenders for complex equipment projects.
- Client Negotiations: Lead project development during the commercial phase, ensuring adherence to technical and commercial client expectations, while managing negotiations with international clients.
- Project Collaboration & Industry Engagement: Work closely with process engineers, project managers, and product specialists, and represent the company at industry fairs and symposiums to support client acquisition and networking.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Further education in Chemical or Process Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience within Process Engineering and Sales.
- A flair for Sales & Marketing and Customer Partnership, with excellent communication skills and a team player attitude.
- A strong drive for sales growth and profitability.
- Willingness to travel occasionally (10-20%), primarily within Europe.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of German, French, or Spanish is advantageous.
