Job Opening: Animal Caretaker at the Experimental Animal Center

We are seeking a dedicated Animal Caretaker to join our team at the Experimental Animal Center (EAC) starting on April 1, 2025, or as mutually agreed. This position is initially limited to one year, with the possibility of extension.

Responsibilities

  • Professional animal care, including monitoring and recording animal health.
  • Breeding genetically modified experimental animals.
  • Maintaining hygiene standards.
  • Recording animal data in the computer system.
  • Performing specific services, such as taking skin biopsies for genotyping.
  • Cleaning materials, equipment, and rooms in accordance with hygiene regulations.
  • Assisting in the operational maintenance of equipment, as well as in the receipt and storage of goods.
  • Participating in animal care duties on a rotational basis during weekends and holidays.

Requirements

  • Completed professional training in animal care or in the agricultural field.
  • A strong sense of responsibility towards entrusted animals.
  • Reliability, quick comprehension, resilience, and efficient working methods.
  • A service-oriented approach requiring a communicative working style, flexibility, and a passion for teamwork.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Good knowledge of German; English skills (level A2) are an advantage.
