Animal Caretaker Position at the Experimental Animal Center (EAC)
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Animal Caretaker to join our team at the Experimental Animal Center (EAC), starting on April 1, 2025, or by mutual agreement. This position is initially limited to one year, with the possibility for extension.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional animal care and monitor and record animal health status.
- Breed genetically modified experimental animals.
- Maintain hygiene standards in accordance with regulations.
- Record animal data in our computer system accurately.
- Perform specific services, such as taking skin biopsies for genotyping.
- Clean materials, equipment, and facilities in compliance with hygiene protocols.
- Assist in the operational maintenance of equipment, as well as in the receipt and storage of goods.
- Participate in rotational animal care duties on weekends and holidays.
Requirements
- Completed professional training in animal care or in the agricultural field.
- A strong sense of responsibility for entrusted animals.
- Reliability, quick comprehension, resilience, and efficient working methods.
- A communicative working style, flexibility, and a team-oriented approach.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including MS Word and MS Excel.
- Good knowledge of German; English skills (level A2) are an advantage.
