For our site in Schaffhausen, we are establishing a Tech Center that will provide process chemistry, analytical, and engineering support for FMC’s global manufacturing operations. We are currently seeking a Analytical Chemistry Manager.

Job Description

The Analytical Chemistry Manager acts as the key technical expert, providing analytical solutions to support manufacturing and process improvement initiatives. This role entails supervising the development, transfer, maintenance, and implementation of analytical methods across FMC’s global manufacturing network, ensuring adherence to high-quality standards and efficient processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead analytical technology strategies by defining approaches for method transfer, development, and maintenance.
  • Set up an analytical laboratory and oversee the commissioning of analytical equipment.
  • Manage lab qualifications and promotes best practices such as standardizing procedures across laboratories.
  • Support expansion and improvement projects by providing expert analytical guidance.
  • Introduce innovative analytical technologies to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Conduct technical reviews, including assessments of Quality Control lab capital projects.
  • Oversee global analytical method development, validation, and manage the method database.
  • Ensure method implementation by aligning site analytical methods with those in FMC’s tech transfer packages.
  • Participate in contamination prevention programs, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Support 5-Batch sample collection and GLP studies, while managing manufacturing specifications to ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in analytical chemistry or organic chemistry; Ph.D. preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in analytical chemistry, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Proven expertise in method development and validation for crop protection product manufacturing.
  • Strong background in safety leadership, laboratory safety management, and effective training and development.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English, complemented by excellent communication skills.
