Title:

Analyst – Specialist Situations

Purpose of Role

The primary purpose of this role is to conduct market research, assist in the analysis of new investments, and support the monitoring and day-to-day management of existing investments.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and analyzing research material on companies, industry sectors, and economic trends.
  • Gathering market information through discussions with brokers and company representatives, collaborating with other analysts, and utilizing research to generate trading ideas for asset managers.
  • Creating financial models for the asset management sector and advising on potential short- and long-term securities investments.
  • Backtesting trading strategies and preparing valuation models as necessary.
  • Providing regular research updates to asset managers.
  • Reviewing and verifying information from financial models and broker inputs.
  • Preparing research materials for analysts and addressing ad hoc requests related to meeting notes, models, news reports, and research filing.
  • Encouraging and monitoring input through chat systems from team meetings.
  • Maintaining hard copy research subscriptions and news channels, such as the Financial Times and Wall Street Journal, and disseminating data as required.
  • Collecting current survey results and peer group reports for distribution to the team.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experienced in strategies such as Relative Value trades and SPACs (Special Purpose Acquisition Companies).
  • Expertise in Merger Arbitrage using options.
  • 10+ years of direct industry experience.
  • Advanced understanding of Prime Broker platforms and optimization of financing.
  • Experience managing funds in UCITS and offshore formats.
  • Recipient of industry awards on multiple occasions.
