Title: Analyst – Specialist Situations

Purpose of Role

The Analyst will conduct market research, aid in the analysis of new investments, and assist in monitoring and managing existing investments on a day-to-day basis.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze research material related to companies, industry sectors, and economic trends.
  • Gather market information through discussions and meetings with brokers and company representatives, liaising with fellow analysts, and reviewing research to generate actionable trading ideas for asset managers.
  • Run financial models for the sector and provide investment recommendations for both short and long-term strategies.
  • Conduct backtesting of trading strategies and develop valuation models as needed.
  • Regularly update asset managers with relevant research findings.
  • Receive, review, and cross-check data from financial models and brokers.
  • Print and prepare research materials for analysts, fulfilling ad hoc requests related to meeting notes, models, news reports, and research documentation.
  • Encourage team input through chat systems during meetings.
  • Maintain and supervise subscriptions to hard copy research reports and news sources, including the Financial Times and Wall Street Journal, while disseminating data as requested.
  • Compile current survey results and peer group reports for team distribution.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience in strategies such as Relative Value Trades and SPACs (Special Purpose Acquisition Companies).
  • Knowledge of Merger Arbitrage utilizing options.
  • 10+ years of direct industry experience.
  • Advanced understanding of Prime Broker platforms and financing optimization.
  • Experience managing funds in UCITS and offshore formats.
  • Award recipient in multiple industry recognitions.
