Job Title

Analyst – Specialist Situations

Purpose of Role

The purpose of this role is to conduct market research, assist in the analysis of new investments, and support the monitoring and daily management of existing investments.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing and analyzing research material on companies, industry sectors, and economic trends.
  • Gathering market information through conversations and meetings with brokers and company representatives, collaborating with other analysts, and reading research to generate trading ideas for asset managers.
  • Running financial sector models and making investment recommendations to asset managers for both short and long-term strategies.
  • Backtesting trading strategies and preparing valuation models as requested.
  • Providing regular research updates to asset managers.
  • Receiving, reviewing, and cross-checking information from financial models and broker reports.
  • Preparing and printing research materials for analysts and assisting with ad hoc requests related to meeting notes, models, news reports, and research documentation.
  • Encouraging the use of and monitoring team input via chat systems during meetings.
  • Maintaining and supervising subscriptions to hard copy research and news report channels, including the Financial Times and Wall Street Journal, while downloading and disseminating data as requested.
  • Collating current survey results and peer group reports for distribution to the team.

Skills and Experience

  • Strong experience with Relative Value trades and SPACs (Special Purpose Acquisition Companies).
  • Expertise in Merger Arbitrage using options.
  • 10+ years of direct industry experience.
  • Advanced understanding of Prime Broker platforms and how to optimize financing.
  • Experience managing money in both UCITS and offshore formats.
  • Recognition through industry awards on multiple occasions.
