Title: Analyst – Specialist Situations

Purpose of Role

The Analyst will conduct market research, assist in the analysis of new investments, and support the monitoring and day-to-day management of existing investments.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze research material on companies, industry sectors, and economic trends.
• Gather market information through discussions and meetings with brokers and company representatives, liaising with other analysts, and reading research to generate trading ideas for asset managers.
• Run models on the financial sector, providing the asset managers with investment recommendations for short and long-term opportunities.
• Backtest trading strategies and prepare valuation models as requested.
• Deliver regular research updates to asset managers.
• Receive, review, and cross-check information from financial models and broker reports.
• Print and prepare research for analysts, and manage ad hoc requests related to meeting notes, models, news reports, and research filing and retrieval.
• Encourage the use of and monitor chat system input from team meetings.
• Maintain and supervise hard copy research subscriptions and news report channels, including the FT and WSJ, downloading and disseminating data as needed.
• Collect current survey results and peer group reports and distribute them to the team.

Skills and Experience

• Experience with strategies including Relative Value trades, SPACs (Special Purpose Acquisition Companies), and Merger Arbitrage using options.
• 10+ years of direct industry experience.
• Advanced understanding of Prime Broker platforms and financing optimization.
• Experience managing funds in both UCITS and offshore formats.
• A history of receiving industry awards multiple times.
