Allround Service Technician / Allround Service Technicianess

Darwin Recruitment October 27, 2026

Role Overview

For this role, it is essential to be fluent in Dutch and to reside in the Netherlands.

About the Position

Are you seeking a technical field service role where you actively contribute to keeping the Dutch railway in motion, from switches to signal installations? Are you energized by solving malfunctions under time pressure, especially during the quiet hours of the night? If so, this opportunity with an organization that prioritizes your development, specialist knowledge, and quality equipment is perfect for you.

We are currently searching for an All-round Service Technician in Railway Infrastructure for an international player in the railway sector. This organization is a renowned manufacturer and specialist providing various systems and components for railway operations, including switch systems, signaling installations, and track heating. When a malfunction occurs, the service team quickly mobilizes, and you will play a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted and safe train traffic.

Key Responsibilities

  • Repair, adjust, replace, and maintain switch systems, compensation joints, and crossings.
  • Revise and restore switch control systems.
  • Install and test electric and fluid-controlled switch heating systems.
  • Analyze and resolve malfunctions in signaling installations efficiently.
  • Participate in a 24/7 fault service, approximately once every four weeks.
  • Communicate on-site with contractors and provide direct technical advice.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Possess at least an MBO-2 work and thinking level.
  • Have a background in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechanics, or civil engineering.
  • Are comfortable with regular night and weekend shifts.
  • Are flexible and willing to travel for malfunctions throughout the Netherlands.
  • Learn quickly, are practically oriented, and are motivated to develop further within a specialist field.
  • Remain calm under pressure while resolving issues promptly.

What We Offer

You will receive a competitive salary ranging from €3,500 to €4,800 gross per month, excluding irregularity allowances, along with a fixed year-end bonus. Additional benefits include:

  • 27 vacation days and 13 ADV days.
  • A personal service vehicle and professional tools.
  • Comprehensive specialist training opportunities.
  • A supportive work culture within a stable international organization, including a bike/sports plan and study allowances for children through the company fund.

Why This Position Matters

This position is impressive due to the unique blend of technology, autonomy, and social impact. You will not be confined to one location or standard installations; instead, you will tackle critical issues at a switch one night and engage in preventive maintenance of vital railway infrastructure the next.

We understand that this is not a conventional role. Therefore, we encourage you to apply online using the form below if you have the motivation and technical foundation to further develop your skills, even if you do not meet every requirement.
