The Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering at ETH Zurich invites experienced scientists specializing in manufacturing to join our team. The initial appointment will be at the scientific collaborator level (non-permanent), with an intended progression to senior scientist (permanent) and the awarding of the Adjunct Professor title.

This position is part of ETH’s forthcoming Center for Manufacturing. The selected candidate will contribute to the development and execution of educational and mentoring activities and supervise doctoral students in the area of subtractive manufacturing and machine tools. Additionally, the role involves supporting the acquisition and coordination of industry-focused projects, engaging many ETH students and researchers. Collaborative opportunities await through our strategic partnership with inspire AG, which focuses on technology transfer to the mechanical, electrical, and metal (MEM) industries.
Applicants should possess a PhD in engineering and have an exemplary record of accomplishments in academic and/or industrial research on the aforementioned topics. A strong motivation for teaching, particularly in project-based courses with hands-on learning experiences, is essential. At MAVT, undergraduate courses are taught in both German and English, while graduate courses are conducted in English. Your qualifications should align with the research and teaching objectives of the Institute for Machine Tools and Manufacturing (IWF) and the Institute for Virtual Manufacturing (IVP).
