About the Role

We have an outstanding opportunity for you to contribute to our Additive Manufacturing (AM) team as an AM Qualification Engineer in Baden.
We seek an expert in material science and qualification processes for AM technologies. In this newly created role, based in our global headquarters in Baden, Switzerland, you will report to the Head of Manufacturing Technology & Investments. You will lead the qualification and validation of AM materials, processes, and turbocharger parts. Your responsibilities will include generating, analyzing, and evaluating material and quality-related data, optimizing in-house production, and qualifying suppliers to elevate AM to an industrial production standard for Accelleron.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the development and oversee the overall AM parts, material, and process qualification for rotating and static turbocharger parts.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of our current production and qualification processes to identify effective strategies for industrializing AM at Accelleron.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, Value Chain, and product teams to streamline the qualification process for AM turbocharger parts, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manage the preparation, evaluation, and documentation of material and part tests, along with qualification-related workstreams from a manufacturing perspective to drive AM industrialization.
- Lead the overall process and part qualification and the industrialization of in-house AM, including the development and implementation of quality assurance methods and processes.
- Drive AM supplier qualification processes, including supplier risk management.
- Serve as a cross-functional translator bridging the gap between various business units.
- Lead corporate AM industrialization and change management alongside other AM team members.
Your Background
- A Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Material Science with a focus on metals, Mechanical Engineering focused on metal manufacturing technologies, or equivalent); a PhD is a plus.
- Over 3 years of professional or academic experience in process, material, and part qualification in the metal AM machine industry.
- A solid understanding of manufacturing technologies, including pre/post-processing of AM parts and full AM production process optimization within the aerospace or turbomachinery sectors.
- Proven expertise in metal AM, with a focus on laser powder bed fusion; a focus on material science and material integrity is advantageous.
- Demonstrated project and change management skills, along with a strong ability to work cross-functionally.
- Strategic orientation, systematic and analytical thinking combined with a proactive working style. Highly motivated, curious, and willing to challenge traditional procedures.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in German is an asset.
