The Biotechnology and Bioengineering group at the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering (D-BSSE) of ETH Zurich in Basel is seeking innovative scientists eager to make a difference. If you thrive on cutting-edge research and want to be part of an exciting new venture, we invite you to join us as we focus on scalable recombinant Adeno-associated virus (rAAV) manufacturing and closed-loop gene therapies targeting inborn metabolic disorders.
The D-BSSE represents a unique convergence of various fields of study within the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, ETH Zurich. Its mission is to drive advancements in Systems Biology, Biotechnology, and Synthetic Biology. In this collaborative environment, teams engaged in theoretical biology, experimental biology, and engineering unite their passions and expertise to contribute to a better world. Located in picturesque Basel, Switzerland, D-BSSE is situated in the Biovalley, a tri-national region that hosts 40% of the global life sciences industry, including several leading pharmaceutical companies, making it an exceptional hub for transformative translational research.
Our group employs state-of-the-art Synthetic Biology methodologies to engineer human cells and develop advanced gene and cell therapies with a focus on addressing cancer, metabolic disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, autoimmune conditions, and infectious diseases. More information about our initiatives can be found on our webpage and in our published work.
We are engaged in an exciting project aimed at harnessing synthetic biology tools to develop novel AAV-based therapies. Our focus is on enhancing safety, efficacy, and production scalability of these therapies. We are committed to overcoming significant challenges in the gene therapy landscape, including large-scale AAV vector production and engineering therapies that dynamically respond to disease symptoms, ensuring optimal therapeutic protein levels. As part of our team, you will play a vital role in developing, validating, and integrating these technologies while helping to shape the roadmap for clinical translation.
We seek exceptional scientists who are enthusiastic about commercializing startup technologies. The ideal candidate is a creative and highly motivated scientist who thrives in a dynamic scientific environment and is eager to implement pioneering technologies. Additionally, you should possess:
